Organisers expect bigger marathon
Belfast CIty Marathon runners
Belfast City Marathon continues to rise in popularity
The organisers of the 2007 Deep River Rock Belfast City Marathon are predicting a record number of entries.

The main marathon, relay, walk and wheelchair event attracted 13,700 participants in 2006.

There are to be a couple of minor changes to the route with an additional half a mile in Newtownabbey and a shorter section at Ormeau Park.

Marathon chairman Danny O'Connor has promised more drinks for runners along the route and additional entertainment.

"There will be two new energy drinks stations in the latter stages of the route and a bigger party atmosphere at the finish near the tennis centre with bands and a funfair," said O'Connor.

The official charity of the marathon is the Down's Syndrome Association.
