Brown out of World Cross Country
Jon Brown
Brown has had a terrible run of injuries this year
Briton Jon Brown will not compete at next year's World Cross Country Championships in Kenya as the venue is in an area affected by malaria.

The Canadian-based former European Cross Country champion was keen to run in the Mombassa event on 24 March but has now decided to pull out.

"With it being held in Kenya for the first time I wanted to run," he said.

"But malaria can be found there and I don't want to start taking injections or whatever else is necessary."

UK Athletics still intends to send a full complement of men and women's senior and junior sides to the event.

There are also plans for a warm-up camp in South Africa.
