Japan's Olympic champion Mizuki Noguchi will miss this month's Berlin Marathon because of a hip injury.
The 2004 Athens gold medallist injured herself after falling in her bathroom.
She confirmed upon arriving home in Japan from a trip to Switzerland that she had abandoned plans to run in the 24 September race.
Noguchi said: "It is a shock because I was feeling (in better form) than last year, but if I'm not fully fit obviously I can't run."
