Ireland's David Gillick ran his best outdoor 400m time in Italy

European indoor 400 metres champion David Gillick made a promising start to his outdoor season by clocking 45.93 seconds in Friday's Turin Grand Prix.
Gillick was fifth in a high-class field but his time was a personal best outdoors and inside the 'B' standard for the 2005 World Championships.
The race was won by world indoor silver medallist Davian Clarke from Jamaica.
Gillick, from Dundrum in south Dublin, will now chase the 'A' standard for Helsinki of 45.55
The 21-year-old's previous best outdoor time had been 46.27.
