Twice Boston Marathon champion Johnny Kelley has died at the age of 97.
Kelley was named Runner of the Century by Runner's World magazine after taking part in 61 Boston Marathons, finishing in the top 10 on 18 occasions.
"Johnny Kelley has long been the heart and soul of the Boston Marathon," said race organiser Thomas S Grilk.
Kelley, who won Boston in 1935 and 1945, competed at the Olympic Games twice, finishing 18th in 1936 and 21st in 1948 at the age of 40.
