Ashia Hansen shows off her world indoor gold medal
Hansen could not follow up her indoor glory last season
Ashia Hansen is ready to put an injury-hit season behind her and return to action early next year.

Hansen had to write off her outdoor season after aggravating a long-term heel problem.

The 32-year-old grabbed gold at the world indoor championship with a leap of 15.01m in March and now aims to defend her title in Budapest.

Long jumper Jade Johnson has decided not to compete at the worlds but will attend some indoor meetings.

The 23-year-old plans to improve her speed on the run-up by competing in a handful of 60m races.

Hansen told UK athletics chiefs she plans to compete in at least three indoor meetings.

The Birchfield Harrier was favourite to snatch gold at the outdoor world championship.

But she was forced to have surgery to remove a bone spur and had to withdraw from the British team.

Johnson battled through a niggling injury to take a commendable fouth place in Paris and is determined to fulfil her potential and grab an Olympic medal.
