Brown misses qualifying mark
Jon Brown
Brown's biggest win was his fourth place at the Sydney Olympics
British number one Jon Brown failed in his bid to post the qualifying time for next year's Olympics in the Fukuoka marathon on Sunday.

The 32-year-old clocked two hours 18 minutes and 55 seconds - the Olympic standard is set at 2:15:00.

Brown, who has suffered from a long-term groin injury, hoped to qualify in Japan because he did not want to run another marathon before Athens.

Japan's Tomoaki Kunichika took the Fukuoka title in 2:07:52.
