British 1500 metre runner John Mayock could miss out on a seventh national
title in Birmingham in 10 days' time as his wife Lindsey is expecting the couple's second child.
Mayock, who has dominated British middle distance running for eight years, has vowed to be at the birth which could occur during the Norwich Union Trials &
AAAs on 25-27 July.
The heats for the 1500m take place on Friday night with the final on Sunday.

My first daughter Elizabeth was five days late, I'm sure that Lindsey will
hang on for me again

Mayock said: "I'd have to go back to Yorkshire to be with Lindsey if she went
into labour, you have to be with your wife at a time like this.
"Besides, she has already told me that she has not gone through the last nine
months for me to miss out."
The Birmingham event doubles as the selection meeting for August's world championships in Paris.
But Mayock said: "My first daughter Elizabeth was five days late, I'm sure that Lindsey will
hang on for me again."
