Bekele fit for Lausanne
Kenenisa Bekele wins at the 2002 World Cross Country Championships
Bekele picked up two golds last year
Ethiopia's double world cross country champion Kenenisa Bekele will defend his titles in Switzerland this weekend.

There had been question marks over the 20-year-old's fitness but Kenya's national athletics coach confirmed on Monday that Bekele would run in Lausanne.

"Kenenisa has been suffering from a deficiency of haemoglobin in his blood which may have been caused by exhaustion or excess participation in races," said Woldemeskel Kostre.

"He has fully recovered and is ready to participate in the men's races this weekend."

Bekele made history in Dublin last year when he became the first man to win both the long (12km) and short (4km) course world titles.

But the haemoglobin deficiency caused him to miss the Ethiopian national championships earlier this month and he only resumed training on 8 March.
