El Guerrouj to run Classic
Hicham El Guerrouj celebrates after triumphing in the IAAF Grand Prix final
Hicham El Guerrouj is the world number one
World number one Hicham El Guerrouj will run in the Norwich Union Classic in Sheffield on Sunday.

The Moroccan, the top athlete on the IAAF's official rankings, will run a 1500m, his first of the season.

The race will also be the world record holder's first at the Don Valley stadium.

The inclusion of El Guerrouj is good news for Britain's Anthony Whiteman and Michael East, who are both chasing the qualifying time for the European Championships.

World 110m hurdles champion Allen Johnson has also been added to the Sheffield bill. The American will meet old adversary Colin Jackson.

Tickets for the Norwich Union Classic, which will be broadcast live on the BBC, are available by phone on 0870 444 4440.
