Yelling makes Euro mark
National Cross Country champion Liz Yelling has qualified for this summer's European Championships
Yelling ran a personal-best time
National Cross Country champion Liz Yelling qualified for this summer's European Championships with a personal-best time over 10,000m in Italy.

Yelling finished seventh at the European Challenge meeting in Camaiore in a time of 32 minutes 26 seconds, four seconds under the qualifying time.

British selectors confirmed the first domestic runner to achieve the mark would be chosen for the August event in Munich.

Yelling's sister-in-law Hayley won the B race in 32mins 48.50secs, which missed the European mark but was well ahead of the Commonwealth Games standard of 34 minutes.

In the men's race, Britain's leading cross country runner Sam Haughian finished twelfth in 28mins 25.87secs, missing the European criteria but breaking the Commonwealth barrier.

Germany's 1992 Olympic 5,000m gold medallist Dieter Baumann won the race as he continues his comeback after being reinstated from a drugs suspension in January.
