Half-marathon next for Gebrselassie
Haile Gebrselassie
Gebrselassie is ready to step up from the 10,000m
Haile Gebrselassie will make his half-marathon debut at the event's world championships in Bristol.

A statement released on Wednesday by the Ethiopian Athletic Federation said Gebrselassie would compete at the 7 October event.

The Olympic 10,000m champion has indicated several times he is ready to step up in distance.

But he will continue to race on the track following his shock defeat in the 10,000m at the World Championships in Edmonton last month.

It was Gebrselassie's first defeat over the distance for eight years.

The 28-year-old has won the last two Olympic 10,000m titles, and holds the world record over 5,000 and 10,000 metres.
