Michael Johnson leads down the straight
Michael Johnson anchors the United States to victory
Michael Johnson anchored the United States to victory in the 4x400m relay in his last appearance on home soil.

The 400m Olympic champion and world record holder made a winning farewell in front of record crowds at the Penn relays, Philadelphia.

The 33-year-old ran a perfect anchor leg recording a split time of 44.2 seconds as Team USA came home ahead of Jamaica.

"I woke up this morning very excited about coming here to run my last race in the US," Johnson said

"It worked out the way I wanted it to - to come out here, interact with the crowd and have some fun."

Two other US Olympic gold medallists, Maurice Greene and Marion Jones, were also in winning teams in front of an aggregate three day crowd of 108,638.

Greene anchored home both the 4x100m and 4x200m in first.

And in the women's 4x400m Jones lead home Team USA more than four seconds ahead of Jamaica.
