BBC Sports Photographer of the Year
Photography competition

It's time to get your cameras out for our first ever BBC Sport photography competition.

We want you to send us photos which best capture what sport is all about.

There will be two age categories - over 16, and 16 and under.

The two winners will get the chance to spend time snapping at the All England Lawn Tennis Championships at Wimbledon in June in the company of a professional sports photographer.

How does it work?

This competition is not about who can photograph the most famous sports stars.

SUGGESTED THEMES

Joy
Pain
Teamwork
Dedication
Support

Think grass-roots sport - Sunday league matches, travelling to a game, gruelling training sessions, titanic tussles, and anything else that tells a sporting story.

You can choose absolutely any sport to photograph, but don't forget to ask permission from those involved, or from their parents or guardians if they are under 16.

We have suggested the following themes to inspire you for your entries - joy, pain, teamwork, dedication and support.

Our picture desk will select the best photos from each age category and display them in a picture gallery on the site.

You will then be able to vote to decide who wins the first BBC Sport Photographer and BBC Sport Young Photographer of the Year award.

Age groups

The 16 and under age group will be open to anyone who is 16 and under on the final closing date of 31 May 2006.

All under-16s entering the competition must get a parent or guardian to sign and return the following form:

Most computers will open PDF documents automatically, but you may need to download Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Anyone aged 17 or above on 31 May 2006 will fall into the over 16 category.

They do not need to sign and complete the form above.
