Toby Faletau set to return at flanker for NG Dragons

3 March 11 16:13

Wales back-row hopeful Toby Faletau will return from an ankle injury for the Newport Gwent Dragons' Magners League trip to Munster on Saturday.

Usually a number eight, Faletau will play openside at Thomond Park.

Dragons assistant coach Danny Wilson said: "It's a slightly different position for him."

Faletau's return is also a boost for Wales as the uncapped 20-year-old was named in their original Six Nations squad only to suffer his injury.

He was also part of the Wales squad for the November's autumn internationals after impressing with his physical presence, but he did not feature in any of the four Tests.

The Wales under-20 cap last played for the Dragons in their 23-16 Heineken Cup pool defeat to Glasgow Warriors on Sunday, 23 January.

In his absence, Faletau's rival at the Scarlets, Josh Turnbull, won a first Wales cap as a replacement in the 24-6 win over Scotland at Murrayfield.

Wilson expressed the Dragons' delight at again having Faletau at their disposal.

"I'm looking forward to seeing him play again. We've got some great competition in the back-row at the moment," said Wilson.

"Toby gives us a real carrying and a physical presence and a real turn of pace.

"He's be playing seven this week, slightly different position for him, but good to have him back."
