Dougie Donnelly
Dougie formed an unlikely double-act with Billy Connolly
Dougie Donnelly was born in Glasgow and attended the Hamilton Academy before taking a law degree at the University of Strathclyde.

His career is broadcasting began in 1979 when he presented Radio Clyde's mid-morning show.

Dougie is the main presenter of BBC Scotland's sport output, a position held since 1980, fronting Sportscene with its main sports of football and rugby.

In 1992, Dougie joined up as a presenter and reporter with the award-winning BBC Network team that presented the Olympic games from Barcelona and the European Football Championships from Sweden.

In 1996, Dougie took part in the presentation of the same sporting double bill, working on the Euro 96 Championships in England and the centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta.

In early 1996, Dougie presented network coverage of World Championship snooker, bowls and darts, and the Benson & Hedges snooker, all of which he has presented since 1993.

Golf has featured regularly on Dougie's schedule.

In addition to the Open, he was involved in the Volvo PGA, the Loch Lomond World Invitation Tournament and the World Match Play.

Dougie's other BBC Network credits see him regularly fronting a variety of sport productions, including Grandstand.

While he has established himself as a sport presenter his talents as a chat show host were very much praised when he fronted two series of Friday Night with Dougie Donnelly and a one off television special with Billy Connolly, Connolly With Donnelly both for BBC Scotland.

He is also skilled at presenting promotional events, sales conferences and corporate videos and is in constant demand for after dinner speaking.

Outside of his broadcasting activities, Dougie remains a sports enthusiast and a keen golfer.
