Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic won their first Grand Slam title as a pair as they beat Jonas Bjorkman and Kevin Ullyett in the men's doubles final.

The second seeds' serving proved decisive as they only conceded one break point in the entire match.

By contrast their opponents, especially Bjorkman at times, struggled with their serve and the second seeds sealed a 7-6 (12-10) 6-7 (3-7) 6-3 6-2 victory.

It was a Wimbledon farewell for Bjorkman, who is retiring this year.

It was the 129th match the Swede had played at Wimbledon - 95 of which had ended in victories.

Zimonjic took part in the final despite breaking a bone in his left wrist during Thursday's semi-final victory over Leander Paesa and Lukas Dlouhy.

There was nothing between the pairs in the first two sets and Nestor and Zimonjic moved ahead by finally winning a thrilling first set tie-break.

The second was similarly even, but the eighth seeds levelled the match by winning that tie-break.

However the contest turned in favour of Nestor and Zimonjic in the third. Bjorkman and Ullyett had their solitary chance to break at 3-5 down but failed to take it - and the second seeds won the game and took the set.

They then broke in the fifth game of the fourth set, and held serve to move 4-2 ahead and then moved into a 5-3 lead.

Zimonjic then played three superb shots in the final game - one a mid-air smash from behind the baseline - to break Ullyett and clinch victory in two hours, 39 minutes.

The victory completes a full set of Grand Slam titles for Nestor and it is also a first Wimbledon title for his partner.

"I thought we played a great match, focused really hard and did not want to give an inch and this was against one of the greatest competitors over the years in Jonas," said Nestor.

"There was a little bit of nerves out there in that first set and they kept up their level in the second but we served a lot better in the third and fourth."

Zimonjic added: "My injury was all right except for returning high balls on the backhand. This is the best thing that has ever happened to me in my career. It was an amazing feeling to be on Centre Court and you don't get too many chances to do that."
