Henin through to Qatar quarters
Justine Henin
Henin arrived in Qatar on the back of her victory in Dubai
Top seed Justine Henin held off a tough challenge from Alicia Molik to reach the quarter-finals of the Qatar Open.

The Belgian dominated the first set but failed to serve out the match in the second, taking her into a nervy tie-break and a 6-2 7-6 (11-9) win.

Henin will now face fifth seed Patty Schnyder in the last eight after the American beat Spain's Anabel Medina Garrigues in straight sets 6-3 6-4.

Third seed Martina Hingis beat Maria Kirilenko 6-2 6-2 to also go through.

Henin was relieved to come through a tough test against Molik, admitting: "You always expect a tough match against a player like Alicia. I had a good start and then lost my energy a little bit.

(Schnyder) is a special player. It will be a tough one. I have to raise my level if I have to win

"I lost some intensity in my game. And she gave me lots of trouble on her serve. I wasn't playing that well that time in the second set.

"But I came back and found everything. I didn't do my best, but I won in two sets. That is the key for me."

And the 24-year-old expects a tough match against Schnyder, saying: "She has really given me a lot of trouble in the past. We are always involved in big fights, in three sets.

"She is a special player, unlike others as she is a lefty (left-hander). It will be a tough one and I have to raise my level to win."

India's Sania Mirza withdrew with a knee injury before her second-round match against Ukrainian Kateryna Bondarenko.

The 20-year-old suffered the injury in her first-round victory over Italian Romina Oprandi.
