Cash - Poor tactics cost Henman
Tim Henman shows his frustration
Henman shows his frustration
Pat Cash reckons Tim Henman crashed out of the Australian Open because he "underestimated" Nikolay Davydenko.

"He had two previous wins against Davydenko and the first question has to be 'did he underestimate his opponent?' I think he did," Cash told the BBC.

"Tim thought he would work his way into the match, but he wasn't given the opportunity. As he pressed, he made more and more mistakes."

Davydenko's win gave him a last 16 spot at a grand slam for the first time.

"Davydenko's not pretty to watch. He's workmanlike and a very tough player," added Cash.

"He barely made a mistake, he made Tim hit all the shots, hit some great passing shots and played above himself.

"Tim didn't serve as well as he would have liked, he dropped balls into the slot and saw winners come back past him."

Cash is not sure how Henman will react following his shock loss.

"He'll be keen to get home, what with his new baby and everything, but it will be interesting to see how he goes on from here," said the Australian.

"Tennis is funny. Sometimes you tend to relax and sit back and think you're in full control. But just when everything's going well things come up and bite you.

"Just ask Mark Philippoussis. Wimbledon finalist in 2003 and now look at him. He's something like 130 in the world and has barely won a match.

"I think he (Tim) is too good a player for that to happen, but you never know and he's going to have to be better prepared."
