The Homeless World Cup kicked off in Edinburgh on 18 July - and you can catch all the latest action from the tournament right here.

Four graduates from the BBC Tackling Skills project are reporting on all the games throughout the week-long tournament, which seee 32 countries and over 250 people taking part.

Here is a report from Ireland v Italy.

Ireland 2-3 Italy - by James Clarke

Spectators roared out the tune of 'Is this the way to Amarillo' as heatwaves bounced off the Edinburgh castle, the stunning backdrop for this tense knockout match.

Support was thrown out to all the players as kick-off was being prepared by all the amazingly helpful volunteers, including the referees.

Individual players for both teams worked well, ensuring all defensive angles were covered, but space on this small pitch wasn't used as effectively as it could have been.

The first incident of the game came when two players went up for a challenge, resulting in an Italian sustaining a head injury. Anthony Byrne for Ireland was signalled to the sin bin for this, much to the outrage of the Irish squad.

On his way off, Byrne let his temper get the better of him and smashed his foot through the pitch perimeter. Italy was consequently awarded a penalty which they successfully delivered.

Ireland made a star substitute, who scored with a classy second touch. Italy replied quickly producing quick foot work resulting in a simple Italian goal.

The game rapidly turned into a rollercoaster ride, as medics were called twice to the pitch and tempers flared.

Players struggled to resist over-reacting, and although only a minority retaliated, the referee was forced to show Anthony Byrne the red card for verbal abuse as it was his second offence.
