St Mirren 1-3 Ayr United
Ayr eased into the second round of the Bell's Scottish League Challenge Cup with a convincing 3-1 win at St Mirren.

Although St Mirren had much of the early play, it was Ayr who opened the scoring after 15 minutes.

Paul Lovering crossed for Gary Teale to nip in and put the ball into the net.

Saints hit back three minutes after half-time when Mark Yardley rose above the Ayr defence to head home just 30 seconds after coming on as a substitute.

St Mirren were caught napping again a minute later when they stopped playing after thought they had conceded a penalty.

But the referee had allowed the advantage and Paul Sheerin ran on to score.

Eddie Annand rounded off the scoring after 72 minutes, finishing a fluent move by hooking in a cross.

St Mirren: Roy, Baltacha, Turner, McLaughlin, Kerr, Walker, Murray, Bowman, McKnight, McGarry, Burns. Subs: McKenzie, Gillies, Quitongo, Yardley, Scrimgour.

Ayr: Nelson, Robertson, Duffy, Hughes, Lovering, McGinlay, Craig, Sheerin, Teale, Annand, Grady. Subs: McEwan, Sharp, Wilson, Bradford, Dodds.
