Nick Robinson inspired Cardiff Blues to a surprise Celtic League win against Edinburgh Gunners at Murrayfield.

The fly-half claimed two interception tries, converting both himself and also slotting the extras when prop Gethin Jenkins barged his way over.

The Welsh survived the last 10 minutes with 14 men after Maama Molitika was sent off for his second yellow card.

Edinburgh failed to score in the first half and ended with just Ali Hogg's try and five points from Chris Patterson.

It took the Blues 30 minutes to even make an appearance in the Gunners' 22, but then struck twice in quick succession.

The Welsh side was under pressure when back-row Molitika was sin-binned, but Nick Robinson latched on to a loose Edinburgh pass to romp virtually the whole length of the pitch.

Even worse was to come for the Gunners as Wales and Lions prop Jenkins powered through in the wake of clever work by winger Chris Czekaj.

To add to Edinburgh's problems, they lost the services of Test pair Mike Blair and Ally Kellock who both went off injured.

Gunners skipper Paterson tried to launch a salvage act a minute after the restart with a penalty close to the posts.

Then Hogg battled across for a superb try after slick interplay featuring substitute Rory Lawson and Taylor - Paterson converting to reduce the gap to four points.

But the Scottish revival came to an abrupt halt when they were again the victims of their own carelessness.

Robinson again pounced on a poor pass, this time on halfway, then played a great one-two with Martyn Williams before touching down to give himself the formality of a kick.

Molitika was then sent packing for good, receiving his second yellow card for deliberately killing the ball on the deck.

But the Blues hung on despite a late attacking flurry from their hosts.
