Ebbw Vale disqualified from Cup
Ebbw Vale have been thrown out of the Konica Minolta Cup after fielding an ineligible player in the third round.

Cory Billen played in the 29-5 win over Glamorgan Wanderers on 18 December.

Billen is a registered player with Brecon RFC, whose complaint that he had not been granted a permit was upheld by a Welsh Rugby Union hearing.

Glamorgan Wanderers will take the Steelmen's place in the fourth round and will play away at Carmarthen Athletic RFC on Saturday, 22 January.

  • Ebbw Vale RFC tight-head prop Ben Coutts is on a one-month trial with Sale Sharks.

The Manchester outfit require cover at prop as they will be losing Andrew Sheridan to international duty.

The Steelmen's player-coach Byron Hayward provided fly-half cover for Sale in the autumn international period when Charlie Hodgson was with England.
