France call for Privat
French lock Olivier Brouzet

France have called up lock Thibault Privat as a replacement for the injured Olivier Brouzet.

Brouzet was ruled out of the rest of the tournament after dislocating his shoulder in the dying seconds of the 43-21 win over Ireland.

He is the second injured French player to return home, after utility back Xavier Garbajosa.

Privat, capped seven times at international level, will join the squad on Wednesday after flying in from France.

Pepito Elhorga has also temporarily left the team set-up to return home after his father died on Sunday.

Elhorga has started just one game in the tournament - against the USA - and was on the bench for the Ireland game.

Team manager Jo Maso explained: "We are deeply sorry to have to inform you that Pepito Elhorga's father died last night so we've put him on a plane to Paris.

"He will be coming back at about seven o'clock on Sunday to be with the team for the semi-final against England."

Other French injuries from Sunday's clash in Melbourne included Jerome Thion, who needed 20 stitches to a lip wound, and centre Yannick Jauzion, who sustained a slight thigh injury.
