Reigning LV= Cup champions Northampton Saints have been chosen to host the final of the 2011 competition at Franklin's Gardens on 20 March.

Saints chairman Keith Barwell said: "Northampton Saints are honoured to be hosting the final.

"No doubt whoever lifts the cup will find the success as beneficial as we have done."

Harlequins face Newcastle while Gloucester play Newport Dragons in the two semi-finals later this month.

If the winner of the competition is one of the three Premiership clubs they will earn a place in the Heineken Cup next season.

The Rugby Football Union's competitions manager Chris Burns said: "We considered a variety of venues for the LV= Cup final and concluded that Franklin's Gardens offered the ideal location and ground capacity."

Saints beat Gloucester 30-24 at Worcester's Sixways Stadium in last year's final.

Franklin's Gardens has a capacity of over 13,000, but Northampton are scheduled to play April's Heineken Cup quarter-final against Ulster in Milton Keynes as their own ground falls below the 15,000 capacity required for the competition.
