London Irish will not retaliate against Brive - Kennedy

Nick Kennedy
Kennedy says the focus is only on topping their Heineken Cup pool

London Irish second row Nick Kennedy says there will be no retaliation from his side when they face Brive again in the Heineken Cup on Saturday.

Last weekend Brive hooker Guillaume Ribes was sent off for punching Danie Coetzee, who was then sin-binned along with Jean-Phillippe Bonre for fighting.

Kennedy told BBC Berkshire: "Danie wore a hell of a punch on his nose.

"There will be nothing from us, we want to play some rugby and do everything we can to get to the top of the pool."

Kennedy added: "It was annoying because we couldn't get anything going. The referee had to keep stopping the game at every breakdown to break up a fight."

The Exiles, who lead Pool Six, secured a 36-3 win in France last weekend but despite having no chance of advancing in the competition, Kennedy says they are expecting more from Brive this weekend in Reading.

"Brilliant internationals like Jamie Noon, Steve Thompson and Andy Goode are coming in for the game, so it'll be very different for us.

"They've said they're absolutely going for us this Saturday, so I don't think it's one of those where a French team with nothing to play for sends over a second team and doesn't care."
