London Irish have signed Jamie Lennard on a two-year contract from the Doncaster Knights.

Lennard, who can play at fly-half or full-back, is an England under-21 international and previously played for Worcester and Rotherham.

London Irish head coach Toby Booth said 23-year-old Lennard was a good signing.

"Being attack-minded as a club, the ability to score points is important which is why we're pleased to sign Jamie Lennard."

"Jamie is an up-and-coming full-back and fly-half who has been the leading points-scorer at Doncaster this season," Booth added.

"His age means that there is the potential to add value to him and improve him as a player as we've done with so many of the young players in our squad."

Commenting on his decision to sign for the club, Lennard said: "This is a very good move for me, I'm delighted to be joining London Irish.

"It wasn't an easy decision to make to leave Doncaster but the opportunity to work with Toby Booth and Mike Catt was too good to turn down.

"I like the style of rugby that the club plays, so I'm looking forward to the challenge of competing for a place in the team and to playing in the Guinness Premiership."

Lennard follows Doncaster's backs coach Justin Bishop to London Irish.

Bishop is taking up the position of assistant academy manager with the club he represented 279 times.
