Robinson holds hope for Bristol

Worcester's Alex Grove is unable to hold on to Bristol's Lee Robinson

Wing Lee Robinson has not given up hope of an improbable escape from relegation after Bristol recorded a rare victory.

The Guinness Premiership's basement club secured a 37-18 win against Worcester to give themselves an outside chance of overhauling the Warriors.

"With the way the boys are playing anything can happen. I just hope we keep winning and we'll see what happens," he told BBC Radio Bristol.

Bristol's remaining games are against London Irish, Wasps and Leicester.

Realistically Paul Hull's side have to win all three matches to have any chance of staying up, although two bonus-point victories would prove enough if Worcester fail to pick up any points from their four remaining games.

Defeat would have condemned Bristol to the drop, but with six tries and a first win in six games since Hull replaced Richard Hill at the helm there is renewed, if faint, hope.

"We were in a very tricky situation after the Newcastle game when I took over, but we said let's keep fighting and you never know," Hull told BBC Radio Bristol.

"What will be will be but we'll keep playing and keep improving and that's all I can ask of the players."

Robinson crossed for two tries, the first of which secured a first winning bonus point since Bristol beat Leeds in March 2008, as the hosts closed to within nine points of Worcester at the bottom of the table.

"It was the combination of a few month's work and a few good games and finally we've got the win we deserved. It's just a shame we couldn't have got it a bit earlier," added Robinson.

"We've always been capable of scoring tries. Look at the back three and the backs we've got, we've got a Premiership backline. We played some great rugby and it's just a matter of time before structures were in place.

"Not only now have we got the up and down game, we've got some diversity in the backs so when there is space we run and when there isn't we take the ball up."
