Leinster are top of the Celtic League on points difference after a nine-try romp over the Borders at Donnybrook.

Gary Brown (three), Bryce Williams, Felipe Contepomi, Denis Hickie, Rob Kearney, John Hepworth and replacement Niall Ronan all got touchdowns.

Argentine fly-half Contepomi landed seven conversions and a penalty for a personal haul of 22 points.

Borders had little to offer and could only count on two second quarter tries from winger Nikki Walker by the finish.

Contepomi put Kiwi lock Williams over for the opening try on two minutes.

Contepomi then converted, kicked a penalty and threw a neat dummy on 18 minutes to grab a try of his own.

The Scots then made their presence felt by scoring a breakaway try from Walker which Charlie Hore converted for a 17-7 deficit.

Walker was sent in again by the efforts of Calum MacRae and Garry Law after Contepomi had been intercepted on 39 minutes.

Leinster still led 36-14 at the break with winger Brown (25, 28 minutes) and axed Ireland star Hickie (33) having touched down.

Hickie danced past Walker on 50 minutes to put Brown over for his third try.

As Borders' heads dropped, tries followed for Kearney, Ronan and centre Hepworth, the former Leeds and Castleford rugby league player registering his first try for Leinster.
