All the latest action as it happened when the Lions took on the All Blacks in Christchurch.

FULL TIME - New Zealand 21-3 Lions

80 min: Carter puts the ball into touch to put the seal on the victory as the referee blows for full time. The All Blacks take a 1-0 series lead ahead of the second Test in Wellington next weekend.

80 min: Lions' scrum on the All Blacks' 22, big scrum from New Zealand and they get the next feed.

79 min: Lions retain at the lineout, big hit from replacement Witcombe, All Blacks turnover. Lewsey eventually clears long to touch for the Lions.

78 min: Sione Lauaki on for Collins for the All Blacks. Jones and Horgan drive upfield, Jones clears long to space, Mauger sends it back to touch.

76 min: Carter and Dawson collide, All Blacks called for offside, Corry and O'Connell make good gains. Up to the 22, Dawson has another go, All Blacks turnover, Mauger puts boot to ball, it hits another hand but Mils Muliaina's hack on goes straight into touch.

75 min: New Zealand feel comfortable enough to withdraw Umaga.

75 min: New Zealand refusing to ease up. Another charge down falls for the All Blacks but the ball winds up in touch. Lions' lineout on their own 10m.

73 min: Carter's effort sails wide of the posts. Dawson on for Peel.

72 min: Jack wins the lineout on halfway, this time they drive upfield, Lions penalised for coming in from the side.

71 min: Catch and drive from the All Blacks takes them into the Lions' 22, Carter with the grubber, charged down, Wilkinson clears this time.

70 min: New Zealand penalised at the scrum, free kick Lions, and they clear to touch.

69 min: Ball pops out, Kelleher, on for Marshall, gets his hands on it, tries to feed Carter down the short side but the ball goes down.

69 min: Back pounces on the loose lineout ball. Scrappy pass puts Greenwood under pressure, he slices into touch, but back we come for a crooked lineout throw. Lions scrum.

68 min: Thomas forced to hack the ball into touch as Mauger grubbers the ball into the Lions' 22.

66 min: Lions scrum on halfway, Wilkinson puts boot to ball, MacDonald is able to call the mark. They kick for the lineout. The Lions spin but the squueze is good again from the All Blacks.

64 min: Stephen Jones tries to make the break but the door is slammed in his face. Turnover. Marshall goes short side but is dumped, Lions look to counter. They eventually kick to clear. All Blacks run it back.

62 min: Free kick against the Lions, New Zealand look hungry for more. Conditions getting steadily worse.

61 min: Knock on called against New Zealand on their 22, as Hill hobbles on crutches to join his team-mates on the touchline.

60 min: All Blacks' lineout on the Lions' 22. Jack claims unopposed, a conveyer belt of clean possession for the All Blacks. Hail stones now at the Jade Stadium. Collins and Corry square up as tempers threaten to boil over. Lions get the penalty and clear.

58 min: Big hit from Wilkinson sets up some momentum for the Lions. Back penalised for holding on at the breakdown.

57 min: Back knocks forward as the All Blacks make a hash of a lineout.

56 min: Thompson, Horgan and Grewcock are set to enter the action for the Lions. Byrne, Kay and Robinson make way.

55 min: PENALTY New Zealand 21-3 Lions
Wilkinson finally gets the Lions moving on the scoreboard.

55 min: All Blacks keen to run the ball still, and they get the next scrum inside their 22. Penalty against the All Blacks for holding on following the pick and go. Corry points to the posts.

54 min: All Blacks' scrum on halfway, but they are penalised for losing their binds. Lions kick to the corner for a good touch. Rain continues to sheet down. All Blacks snaffle another lineout ball.

52 min: Kay wins in the lineout, another big hit in midfield from the All Blacks forces the ball from Stephen Jones' grasp.

50 min: Another poor kick from the Lions offers New Zealand another chance to build an attack.

48 min: CONVERSION New Zealand 21-0 Lions
Carter adds the extras to increase the Lions' misery.

48 min: TRY New Zealand 19-0 Lions
Great break from Mauger, great line from Tana Umaga and then a superb long pass to Sivivatu puts the speedster in for the try. Breathtaking rugby.

46 min: Lions fail to make any ground in halfway, All Blacks drive them backwards. Wilkinson kicks down the middle. Jack gets some door mat treatment at the next ruck.

45 min: New Zealand 14-0 Lions
Carter punishes the Lions by stretching his side's lead.

44 min: Thomas lining up at fullback with Robinson on the wing. Penalty against the Lions at the lineout, O'Connell the guilty party.

42 min: Yet another poor lineout from the Lions, Peel with the tackle on Marshall. All Blacks recycle, Carter chips into space, pressure on Lewsey. Lions scramble it away.

40 min: Deep re-start from New Zealand, So'oialo knocks on after Corry loses the ball. Lions scrum. All Blacks penalised, Wilkinson slices the kick into touch. Elsewhere, Hill's injury is still being assessed but O'Driscoll's tour is over.


40 min: New Zealand end the half on the front foot, Jenkins gets involved to knock the ball forward and the referee calls an end to the half. It is confirmed that O'Driscoll dislocated his right shoulder.

39 min: Kicks exchanged from the re-start, Peel and Jones combine to get the ball away. Jack claims in the lineout on halfway, almost charged down by the Lions, knock forward called against Lewsey. New Zealand scrum.

37 min: Stephen Jones goes for the high ball clearance, Williams penalised for taking out Peel. Wilkinson will go for the posts from 40m. But his kick is no good.

36 min: Again the lineout is lost by the Lions, the counter is on again, a charge down ricochets, and a chip through sets up a foot race between Gareth Thomas and Sivivatu but neither is able to ground the ball before it beats them both into touch in-goal.

34 min: High kick from Carter claimed by Robinson inside his own 22, and a burst of speed sees him make big gains. New Zealand penalised at the breakdown. Stephen Jones takes the game into the New Zealand half.

32 min: Marshall with an intelligent grubber kick into the Lions' half. Byrne again with the Lions throw, and another mess sees the All Blacks take control. Pressure tells on Lions as Wilkinson slices a clearance kick.

31 min: Ryan Jones does well again to secure the ball, Stephen Jones clears the Lions' lines.

30 min: Ball goes down in the Lions' midfield as the All Blacks press inside their own 22.

29 min: A bit of pressure at last from the Lions, Byrne with the chip through, Howlett gets back to jump on the ball, All Blacks scramble it away. Lions lineout 5m from the New Zealand line.

28 min: Wilkinson launches a bomb from a penalty on halfway. All Blacks win the penalty as Neil Back is penalised for playing the ball on the ground.

27 min: Lions keep giving possession away to easily. Greenwood with a hopful chip and chase. All Blacks re-group. Aaron Mauger clears to touch.

25 min: TRY New Zealand 11-0 Lions The lineout is poor again and Ali Williams snaps up the ball and barges over for the game's opening try. Carter misses the conversion.

24 min: O'Connell back on from the sin-bin. Lions don't like the fact that Jack takes his man out in the lineout. A telling off will suffice on this occasion from referee Joel Jutge. Jones opts for the cross kick from the penalty, Lewsey can't get it, the All Blacks counter, MacDonald threatens but a big tackle from Ryan Jones saves the day.

22 min: Wilkinson finds a good touch. Another long lineout throw, Jone sis on the end of it again. Kickahead into space, MacDonald returns it with interest to find touch.

21 min: All Blacks soon press again, Sivivatu penalised for holding on in the tackle.

20 min: Lions hanging on at the moment, Greenwood wrapped up in his 22, Peel eventually with the box kick to clear to touch.

19 min: Long throw again from Byrne. Ryan Jones, on for injured Hill, takes the ball. Jones clears long to touch.

18 min: New Zealand work an opening out wide, the ball finds its way to Sivivatu, the Lions scramble back and Robinson and Lewsey look to have forced the ball loose as both crash into the corner. To the video referee we go. Lions get the resulting lineout.

17 min: Wilkinson forced to clear under pressure. All Blacks get the lineout on the Lions' 22. Jack with the claim, then the attempted drive, Marshall spins, Howlett hit hard by Greenwood.

15 min: Jack claims the re-start once more. Lewsey slices a clearance kick. MacDonald slips as he looks to change gear. Big tackle from White on Marshall. Carter leaves Wilkinson for dead, Marshall knocks on to bring an end to the move.

14 min: PENALTY New Zealand 6-0 Lions
Carter slots another easy three to extend the host's lead.

13 min: New Zealand press once again in the Lions' 22, advantage being played, All Blacks a couple of metres short as the rain turns into a downpour. Penalty called against the desperate Lions defence, All Blacks call for a penalty try. Penalty called for an early tackle against Paul O'Connell and he is sent to the bin.

12 min: Wilkinson with the re-start, New Zealand claim and clear once again, Jason Robinson drops the ball, kicks exchanged. All Blacks' lineout on halfway, good throw, Rodney So'oialo on the charge. Carter kicks to touch.

10 min: PENALTY New Zealand 3-0 Lions

9 min: All Blacks happy to run it from their 22, they counter well, loose ball, Peel gets back to snaffle the ball in his own 22, but the All Blacks turnover, big tackle from Wilkinson surely prevents the try, but back we come for an earlier penalty to the All Blacks.

7 min: All Blacks put it straight out from the drop out. Lions scrum on the 22. Pick and go from Corry, but the ball is lost forward.

6 min: Big scrum for the Lions, and they get the penalty. Dwayne Peel with a dtrong burst. Chip through from Wilkinson, Doug Howlett covers, Marshall clearance kick charged down by new skipper Martin Corry but MacDonald gets back to dot down in-goal.

5 min: Lions lineout on the All Blacks' 10m, Byrne's throw is too long, Richie McCaw claims. New Zealand surge forward but the Liosn get the resulting scrum.

4 min: The Lions fans respond by raising their voices. Greenwood has now entered the fray. Stephen Jones gets his first touch of the game. His first kick finds space, Leon MacDonald tidies up, Jason Robinson runs it back.

3 min: Will Greenwood warms up on the line. The stretcher comes onto the field and the Lions' skipper departs the field, looks like a shoulder or arm injury - the result of a big tackle from Keven Mealamu.

2 min: O'Driscoll is down injured, a major concern for the Lions - apart from the impressive start by the All Blacks.

1 min: Wilkinson gets the game underway with a high kick, Jack claims, Marshall tries to clear the ball away. Early penalty for the All Blacks and the scrum-half snipes upfield.

0807 BST: The anthems only heighten the anticipation. Emotion is clearly evident on both sides. The haka is the last act before the game finally gets underway. The Lions just stand in respect.

0805 BST: The tension builds, the Lions fans are in great voice as Brian O'Driscoll leads the side out to a rapturous welcome. They are soon followed by Tana Umaga and the rest of the All Blacks.

0800 BST: Ten minutes to kick off, the capacity crowd are in place and the reported 15-20,000 Lions fans will be hoping that their side get their Test series off to winning start as they did in 1997 and 2001.

0755 BST: The winter sunshine which had engulfed Christchurch all week was replaced by driving rain and a biting wind about five hours before kick-off. Although the rain has eased it is sure to be huge factor in today's result.

0750 BST: With twenty minutes until kick off, the Lions run through some last-minute drills on the Jade Stadium pitch. Sir Clive Woodward looks confident ahead of the big kick off, and stresses the importance of dealing with the pressure and the conditions.
