England World Cup winner Jason Robinson has confirmed he will remain with National League One side Fylde and also hopes to carry on playing.

The Leeds-born 37-year-old, who came out of retirement in July, has become the club's ambassador and will also continue his coaching role.

"When I first came to Fylde we said it would be a long-term thing," he said.

"I'm going to be here next year and I'm looking forward to working with the club both on and off the field."

He added: "It's been a fantastic year and I've met some great people.

"To achieve what we have in such a short period of time has been absolutely fantastic."

Robinson made his name in rugby league with Wigan and Great Britain before switching codes in 2000 to join Sale.

If the body is right and it works then I'll play next season

He later became an integral part of a dominant England side coached by Sir Clive Woodward, scoring a try in the 2003 World Cup final in the extra-time 20-17 victory over Australia in Sydney.

Robinson says he had no hesitation in remaining at the Woodlands.

"I never thought I'd play for Fylde this season being out of the game for three years but I've really enjoyed it," he said.

"I've got to see what the body says because I've had a lot of knocks over the years and I'll be 37 when the season starts, so I've got to make sure it works for me.

"The last thing I want is to go out and not be able to do what I want to do, so if the body is right and it works then I'll play next season but I need to get my knees looked at."
