Exeter Chiefs director of rugby Pete Drewett has signed a new three-year contract which will see him stay at the club to the end of the 2010-11 season.

Drewett joined the Chiefs two years ago after 14 years with England, including a stint as Under-21s manager.

He has guided them to back-to-back National Trophy finals at Twickenham and saw his side finish second in National League One last season.

Drewett says his aim is to guide the Chiefs to English rugby's top flight.

"I believe we have made continuous improvement during the last two years but we still have to achieve something tangible and that's what motivates the whole coaching and support staff every day," Drewett said.

"We are delighted Pete has agreed to extend his tenure with us," said the club's chief executive Tony Rowe.

"He has fully embraced and enhanced the ethos of our traditional club while also ensuring we have kept evolving to become the professional outfit we are today.

"The board has put its faith in Pete and his coaching team to reach the goals we have set for ourselves and I hope we continue to improve at the same rate that we have during the last two years."

Drewett joins the rest of his coaching staff in agreeing an extension until the end of the 2010-11 season.
