Davico injury fear for Warriors
New Wigan signing Luke Davico
Wigan have suffered another pre-season scare after new signing Luke Davico came off injured five minutes into their 20-16 friendly loss to Salford.

The former Canberra prop's last year in the NRL was marred by a pectoral injury that needed major surgery, and there are fears he may have damaged it again.

"He has aggravated his pec injury which is a blow to us. It's what he had at Canberra," said coach Denis Betts.

"I can't comment on how bad it is, but those things are not normally nice."

His injury completed a miserable night for Wigan, who scored three tries in the opening quarter on their way to a 16-0 lead, only to slump to defeat.

Kevin Brown, debutante Wayne Godwin and Harrison Hansen all went over for early scores as Wigan cruised into the lead, before Karl Fitzpatrick pulled one try back for the home side.

Former Wigan player David Hodgson was quickest to get to Luke Robinson's grubber kick to pull Salford closer, and Robinson claimed his team's third try when he followed up his own kick.

Brian Carney was needlessly sin-binned for trying to charge down Chris Charles' conversion, and the Reds made the most of their one-man advantage to take the lead.

On 52 minutes, Dennis Moran charged out of the defensive line but missed an interception, allowing Anthony Stewart to burst through and score, and the Reds held on to that lead until the final whistle.
