Dobson set to make Hull KR debut

New signing Dobson will make his debut on Sunday

Hull Kingston Rovers new scrum-half Michael Dobson has flown into the country and will make his debut for the club against Harlequins on Sunday.

The 21-year-old Australian has replaced injury victim James Webster and has signed a two-and-a-half year contract.

He told BBC Radio Humberside: "I'm looking forward to it, it's a challenge and it's an exciting club.

"I hope to do a consistent job and lead the team around the field and play my part in the team," he added.

Dobson has previous Super League experience with the Catalan Dragons and Wigan Warriors but has struggled to nail down a place in the Canberra Raiders NRL team this season.

He'll freshen things up a bit and give us a few more options but we won't be dumping a load of pressure on his shoulders. He knows what's required

Hull KR coach Justin Morgan

Robins coach Justin Morgan believes Dobson will be a big hit but has admitted that he is prepared to give the player time to bed in at Craven Park.

"He'll freshen things up a bit and give us a few more options but we won't be dumping a load of pressure on his shoulders," Morgan said.

"He knows what's required, he knows our systems and our style of play but we know he'll take some time to find his feet, which is inevitable.

"Even around training today the attitude was one which was quite jovial and the players have already started to pick on him so they must like him."

Elsewhere in the squad to face Harlequins, prop forward Makali Aizue is out after suffering a minor fracture of his lower leg and the game comes a week too soon for second row Jason Netherton.

He dislocated his shoulder in the defeat at Wakefield earlier in the season but has made good progress from what looked to be a season-ending injury.
