RF: "When a Wigan foray into the Widnes half broke down in the 71st minute, the young Joe Lydon quickly snapped up the ball, burst away from two despairing Wigan defenders and proceeded to display the blistering speed which made him such a dangerous player.
"Having rounded an even younger Shaun Edwards at full-back, the alert Lydon outpaced the cover to score a spectacular try - and one which put an end to any hope of a Wigan comeback."
