Clockwatch: Leeds 16-42 St Helens
All the action as St Helens beat Leeds Rhinos in the second semi-final of the Challenge Cup at the JJB Stadium in Wigan.
80 mins: The hooter sounds to confirm St Helen's place in the final against Wigan. They enjoy a thoroughly deserved win, following some superb attacking rugby.
73 mins: A miserable afternoon it may be, but Leeds gain some consolation with, arguably, the try of the afternoon. The Rhinos show some dazzling handling as Willie Poching crosses, although Francis Cummins deserves much credit for his part. The conversion is missed.
69 mins: To their credit, Leeds are refusing to lie down, and exert some considerable pressure near the St Helens try line. But Saints are almost as inspired in defence as they have been in attack, and there is no way through.
63 mins: Leeds fans at the JJB Stadium start thinking about their unhappy journey home as Paul Sculthorpe scores Saints' eighth try. It is not the most attractive try of the game - but that matters little to the joyous Saints fans who start thinking about their tickets to Edinburgh. Long converts.
60 mins: Any thoughts of an unlikely Leeds comeback are dashed by Saints' seventh try. The Leeds defence is scythed open and the ball is fed to Tommy Martyn who passes to Darren Albert who, like Stewart seven minutes earlier, completes his hat-trick. Long misses the conversion.
57 mins: Leeds finally add to their score. Tonie Carroll bursts through the Saints defence towards the corner, but is halted by some strong defence. Leeds feed the ball to Ben Walker who crosses, and converts his own score.
53 mins: Leeds can hold out no more. The relentless waves of Saints' attacks finally pay off and Tommy Martin produces another example of quick hands to pass to Stewart who crosses for his hat-trick. Long's conversion misses by a whisker.
51 mins: St Helens' quick handiwork is giving Leeds no end of trouble. The Rhinos survive another spell of extreme pressure, but only at the expense of a drop out which hands possession straight bakc to Saints.
49 mins: Leeds appear to be losing a little bit of discipline as Ben Walker makes a reckless challenge - but referee Russell Smith diffuses the situation well.
47 mins: Leeds concede a penalty in front of their own posts, and Long has no problem sticking it through the posts.
45 mins: St Helens are back on the offensive, and a well-placed kick forward by Sean Long forces Leeds to concede a drop out from their own line. Sinfield makes a horrible hash of the kick and St Helens are attacking again.
41 mins: A delicate kick forward by Leeds' Kevin Sinfield falls unkindly and the Leeds man is just unable to latch on to it as it bounces by the Saints' try line.
40 mins: St Helens start the second half without Paul Newlove, who appears to be suffering an ankle injury. John Stankevitch replaces him.
40 mins: The hooter brings the half to an end, and shell-shocked Leeds leave the fields shaking their heads after an awesome first-half display by St Helens.
38 mins: Darren Albert produces a brilliant tackle to push Marcus St Hilaire into touch as he tries to give Leeds some hope for the second period.
36 mins: Saints continue to press, but fail to add to their tally as Long pulls a relatively straightforward drop goal attempt wide.
32 mins: It is turning into a rout. Saints create another try which exposes some astonishing gaps in the Leeds' defence. The ball is fed to Newlove who offloads to Anthony Stewart who has plenty of room to cross in the corner. Long's conversion miss is the only silver lining for Leeds.
29 mins: St Helens are rampant, and add to Leeds' misery. It is a carbon copy of Leeds' score, with Darren Albert crossing in the corner after receiving a finely-judged kick by Sean Long - who then hits the post with the converstion.
25 mins: Shortly after their score, Leeds pay the price for indiscipline. A St Helens penalty, conceded for overenthusiastic tackling, is marched forward 10 metres after some backchat. Paul Sculthorpe storms towards the line, and the ball is eventually fed to Anthony Stewart via the quick hands of Paul Newlove for Saints' third converted score.
18 mins: The Rhinos produce some inspired attacking play. Ryan Sheridan is halted just short of the line, but the ball is fed to Kevin Sinfield who kicks into the corner. It is inch-perfect, and Mark Calderwood takes it brilliantly and touches down - although there are some nerve-racking moments before the video referee confirms Calderwood did not go beyond the dead-ball line. Ben Walker converts and Leeds are back in the game.
16 mins: Leeds exert their first pressure after Saints are caught offside - but the St Helens defence is strong.
12 mins: Saints make up for their earlier handling error with some impressively quick hands. On the sixth tackle, the ball is spread out to Martin Gleeson who seems certain to kick - but offloads instantaneously to Darren Albert who crosses in the corner for a fine try. Sean Long adds the extras.
9 mins: A catalogue of errors prevents St Helens from a second score. Sean Long's surging run takes Saints up to within five metres of the Leeds' line - but with a three-man overlap on the right, Saints contrive to mess up the chance utterly, and a knock-on concedes possession.
4 mins: St Helens' pressure pays off as Keiron Cunningham goes over for his 99th try for the Saints. Tim Jonkers is the architect, skipping past a tackle from Sinfield before being halted one metre from the line. But the ball is slipped to Cunningham who bulldozes over for a converted score.
3 mins: A testing kick from Sculthorpe puts Leeds under presure and they are thankful for a good recovery by Ben Walker.
2 mins: Leeds' Kevin Sinfield needs treatment after a crunching challenge by Paul Sculthorpe - but is able to continue.
1 min: St Helens Paul Newlove is stopped in his tracks by Leeds' Adrian Vowles as both teams signal their intent at the start.
1430 BST: The teams come out to rapturous applause from the fans.
