Wigan made a mockery of their early season form with a masterful seven-try demolition of a disappointing Bradford.

Tries from Pat Richards and Gareth Hock set the Warriors on their way before the latter fed George Carmont to give them an 18-0 half-time lead.

Hock grabbed a second try and Harrison Hansen went over either side of a Rikki Sheriffe try for the Bulls.

Hansen added a second for himself and then Iaseta Paleaaesina crashed over before Steve Menzies' consolation try.

The Warriors have endured their worst start to a league season for 23 years and were booed off the pitch after suffering surprise home defeats by Wakefield and Castleford.

However, they got off the mark at Harlequins a week ago and looked like a side full of confidence against a lacklustre Bradford Bulls who remain without a win in Super League this season.

The home side opened the scoring with a superb counter-attacking move when Phil Bailey intercepted, found George Carmont who in turn fed in Richards to finish the move.

Wigan extended their lead after 17 minutes when second-rower Hock took hooker Mark Riddell's pass from dummy half and slipped all too easily past centre Paul Sykes for a second try, with Richards kicking a second goal.

A period of concerted pressure from the visitors shortly after failed to come to anything before the Warriors struck again when the outstanding Hock sent Carmont over for a third try.

A Richards penalty preceded Hock's second try of the game, with the England second-rower powering over from close range, to further extend Wigan's advantage.

Bradford briefly rallied when winger Sheriffe finished off a smart move largely engineered by Ben Jeffries.

However, the loss of hooker Wayne Godwin to a suspected broken leg after a clash with Wigan forward Paleaaesina knocked the final stuffing out them.

Wigan second-rower Hansen scored a try either side of the hour and Paleaasina crashed over to compound the Bulls misery.

Menzies had the final say with a late try but his side were, by that stage, well beaten.

Wigan coach Brian Noble:

"I'm really pleased for the players. It shows what we're capable of when we get our fair share of the ball.

"Some of the things we've been working hard on in practice came off for us tonight.

"I thought defensively we were superb and we were really clinical in the first 40 minutes."

Bradford coach Steve McNamara:

"It hurts like hell. I won't deny that. I'm desperately disappointed with the performance.

"In the first two games there was a whole host of encouraging signs but this is a big setback.

"We were way off tonight. It was one of those nights where everything went wrong. We were poor in every department. There is a lot for us to look at and fix up."
