Reds rout the Bulldogs
National League One

Cliff Beverley and Chris Charles both grabbed a hat-trick of tries as Salford recorded a crushing win over Batley in National league One.

The Reds were held to a draw by Whitehaven in the first game but bounced back with a 54-12 victory over the Bulldogs at The Willows.

The result was never in doubt with Salford 16-0 up after just 10 minutes, Andy Kirk also crossing twice.

Leigh ran in three second-half tries as they secured their second win of the season, a 19-12 victory over Whitehaven at the Coliseum.

The Centurions led only 6-2 at half-time after a Bryan Henare try. But scores from Paul Rowley, Dale Holdstock and David Alstead after the break settled the match in the home side's favour.

Rochdale skipper Paul Smith bagged two tries as his side notched up their second win of the new campaign.

Hull KR took an early lead through an Anthony Siebold try but Damian Ball and Marlon Billy helped the Hornets win 29-18.

Dewsbury claimed their first league win of the season as they edged past Featherstone in a thrilling encounter at Ram Stadium.

The Rams raced ahead with scores from Michael Wainwright (two), George Mack and Nathan Batty but Rovers roared back to 20-20 through Richard Chapman, Nathan Graham, Jamie Stokes and Carl Briggs.

A draw looked on the cards until Paul Hicks broke through and set up the winning try for Dave Oldfield.

National League Two

In National League Two, Keighley skipper James Rushforth scored four of his side's 13 tries as the Cougars crushed newcomers London Skolars 68-6.

Gateshead put up a good fight before Paul Jones' second try condemned them to a 30-22 defeat at home to Barrow.

Player-coach Mark Aston instigated Sheffield's fightback as they recovered from 24-16 down to beat York City Knights 30-24 at the Don Valley Stadium.
