2156 BST The hooter sounds to give Lancashire first blood in the 2002 Origin Series, beating Yorkshire 22-18.

80 mins: Lancashire press the Yorkshire line and Mark Hilton dives over in the final seconds. But the video replay shows that the replacement drops the slippery ball as he tries to touch down.

79 mins: With time running out Leon Pryce picks up Paul Sculthorpe's kick 10 metres from his own line. But Mark Calderwood fumbles the ball to surrender possession and surely give Lancashire victory.

78 mins: Lancashire put up some great defence to keep Yorkshire at bay - but they remain under pressure deep in their own half.

67 mins: Paul Sculthorpe's misguided 40-20 attempt stops inches from the Yorkshire dead-ball line, putting the visitors under more pressure.

64 mins: Andy Farrell converts Paul Wellens' try to give Lancashire a 10-point lead.

42 mins: Anthony Stewart makes an excellent catch from Ryan Sheridan's high cross-kick and runs the ball out of the danger area.

41 mins: Paul Sculthorpe fails to find touch with an attempted 40-20 kick to put Yorkshire back on the attack.

2114: Yorkshire start the second half with a deep kick-off from Danny Orr.

2059 BST: The hooter sounds to end a half that Lancashire began on top but which ends with the sides level at 10-10.

40 mins: Kris Radlinksi drops the ball with the line at his mercy after Martin Gleeson carves Yorkshire open by flying in from the right wing.

39 mins: Lancashire's flowing move breaks down with a loose pass that sends Yorkshire racing downfield. Ryan Sheridan tries a drop goal but his effort slips narrowly wide.

38 mins: Lancashire produce a moment of magic as Paul Sculthorpe puts up a perfectly weighted chip for Kris Radlinski to take as he ghosts through the Yorkshire defensive line.

37 mins: Terry Newton puts in a big hit on Nathan Sykes to secure a vital turnover for under-pressure Lancashire.

34 mins: Yorkshire have now taken the initiative after a tentative start and Ryan Sheridan kicks them deep into Lancashire territory following a good charge by Matt Diskin.

33 mins: Danny Orr kicks his third goal to put Yorkshire back on terms again.

32 mins: Martin Gleeson makes a superb tackle on Yorkshire captain Ryan Sheridan. But Stuart Donlan concedes a penalty by preventing Sheridan playing the ball.

31 mins: Andy Farrell makes a rare mistake when he drops a pass as he sets off on a charge at the Yorkshire line.

30 mins: Yorkshire's Nick Fozzard is in trouble with the referee again for a swinging arm and coach Brian Noble elects to bring him off.

30 mins: No try is the verdict of the video referee.

29 mins: Yorkshire pound the Lancashire line and referee Russell Smith calls in the fourth official when Lee Harland drives for the try from a quick tapped penalty.

9 mins: Lancashire receive a penalty for Nick Fozzard's first punch and Andy Farrell kicks the goal from wide on the right.

9 mins: Referee Russell Smith identifies Yorkshire and Lancashire props Nick Fozzard and Barrie McDermott as the instigators of the punch-up and sends both to the sin-bin for 10 minutes.

8 mins: The game's second scrum erupts into a mass brawl, sparked when the two front rows trade blows.

7 mins: Martin Gleeson makes a midfield break for Lancashire by running a good angle in midfield. But the move breaks down when a loose pass goes into touch deep in Yorkshire territory.

5 mins: Lancashire are showing the better cohesion and Leon Pryce has to shepherd Terry Newton's grubber kick into touch in goal as the Red Rose side threaten again.

3 mins: Andy Farrell's conversion attempt bounces clear off the left hand post.

2 mins: Lancashire strike an early blow with an opening try from full-back Kris Radlinksi, created 40 metres out by Paul Sculthorpe's superb offload to the supporting Andy Farrell.

Lancashire coach Ian Millward springs a late surprise in his team selection for the opening game of the 2002 Origin Series.

Kevin Sinfield moves from the back row to scrum-half, with John Stankevitch stepping into the pack.
