Crowe comes under fire
Crowe meets Souths fans before a match
Oscar winner Crowe is a big Souths fan
Actor Russell Crowe has been accused of breaking rugby league's anti-tampering laws.

Sharks coach Chris Anderson says the Oscar winner has been talking to halfback Preston Campbell and St George Illawarra winger Nathan Blacklock about a move to South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Anderson told The Australian newspaper: "I heard two weeks ago that Russell Crowe was ringing Preston and Blacklock trying to get them to go to Souths.

"If that is the case, it's absolutely wrong."

Anderson says the anti-tampering rules are hard to enforce
Clubs are forbidden from making offers to players until 1 July but Souths are unlikely to face action because Crowe is a fan and not a club official.

"The rules are in place to stop offers like that but clubs can just say they know nothing about it," said Anderson.

"That's the problem with these anti-tampering laws - it's hard to enforce them."

Campbell, the NRL player of the year in 2001, is reportedly unhappy at the Sharks after being moved from halfback to hooker to accommodate Brett Kimmorley.

Blacklock has been dealing with personal problems and had asked St George Illawarra for a release.
