Fallon denial over claims
Champion jockey Kieren Fallon
Fallon insists innocence over race-fixing claims
Kieren Fallon has spoken about his controversial ride on Ballinger Ridge and race-fixing claims.

The champion jockey was suspended for 21 days for failing to ride out his mount when well clear at Lingfield.

And the News of the World alleged Fallon had told undercover journalists before the race that Rye would win.

Fallon strongly denies any wrongdoing over the incident and told ITV News: "They did offer me money but I said it's against the rules of racing."

The Jockey Club is looking into the newspaper claims having been prompted to look at the defeat of the horse by irregular betting patterns on a betting exchange.

But Fallon says he repeatedly refused to accept any gifts for tips.

"When the first couple of horses started winning for them, they did offer me money and I said 'what do you mean? Jockeys can't accept money'," he said.

"It got to the stage where they said if you are not going to accept any money, why don't we give you cars? Why don't you have a Mercedes?

"I do very well out of racing, I make a good living - the cheque at the end of the month is very good. I don't need it and that's exactly what I told them.

"I think this all blew up because they could see I wasn't going to accept anything. They went the other way then and the whole thing went against me."
