Old Loughtonians eye promotion charge

Old Loughtonians player-coach Scott Sandison has challenged his side to gain promotion to the top-flight.

The Essex club's first team are third in the Conference East, six points off leaders Southgate, and are also in the Super Six finals at Wembley Arena.

"Our goal is to get to the Premier, so we've got some work to do there," 31-year-old Sandison told BBC Essex.

"What's difficult for us is there's not a lot of time between the indoor finals and our next outdoor game."

The outdoor season is currently in a winter break, meaning Old Loughtonians can concentrate on their indoor campaign.

After finishing fourth in the Super Six Premier Division, which sees each side field six players, Loughts are now heading to London for finals day on 30 January.

They face table-toppers East Grinstead in the semi-finals, with EG winning their group game 11-3 earlier this month.

"I think all these teams are so close in this competition, you never really know where you're going to go," added Sandison.

"We've still got some work to but I'm really proud of my side, they've done an excellent job."
