Rose ends World Cup on high note

Sean Rose
Rose was sixth in the downhill event at the Turin Winter Paralympics

Paralympic skier Sean Rose finished the IPC World Cup skiing finals in Whistler, Canada on a high note with seventh place in the slalom.

The 37-year-old struggled in the early part of the competition.

But, in his final event, he was eighth in the first of the two slalom runs before moving another place up the leaderboard after the second run.

The result is a boost for the Cambridge-based skier as he chases a place in his second Winter Paralympics.

Rose had found the going tough in the early events, crashing out of the downhill before being disqualified in the super-G.

He then finished 20th in the giant slalom but put those results behind him to claim his best result of the week in the slalom.

Of the other Britons in action in the event, held at the same venue where next year's Winter Paralympics will take place, Russell Docker was 15th in the downhill with Talan Skeels-Piggins 21st, while the pair were 22nd and 26th respectively in the super-G.

In the women's competition, Jane Sowerby achieved her first finish in her opening World Cup super-G race.
