Jeremiasz & Mistry bid for title
Michael Jeremiasz and Jayant Mistry
Jeremiasz and Mistry celebrate their 2005 victory
Britain's Jayant Mistry and Frenchman Michael Jeremiasz will defend their Wimbledon wheelchair doubles titles on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 July.

The Anglo-French duo beat Australian David Hall and Martin Legner of Austria in last year's inaugural event.

The world's top eight ranked men's doubles wheelchair players will take part in this year's competition.

They include Athens Paralympic gold medallists Satoshi Saida and Shingo Kunieda of Japan.

After their success at Wimbledon, Mistry and Jeremiasz also won the men's doubles at the Doubles Masters in Italy while Jeremiasz also finished the season as the world singles number one.

But the pair know it will be difficult to retain their title against some difficult competition.

"After 20 years of playing wheelchair tennis, to become a British winner at my home Grand Slam last year was the most thrilling event of my career so far and quite probably the biggest thing to happen to British wheelchair tennis," said Mistry.

"Both myself and Michael are really looking forward to defending our title this year, but know that we are in for a very tough defence."

Martin Legner will hope to make up for last year's final disappointment when he partners former world number one singles and doubles player Robin Ammerlaan of the Netherlands.

This will be the Dutchman's second visit to The Championships after he took part in a wheelchair doubles exhibition match in 2002.

The final partnership sees 2005 semi-finalist Miroslav Brychta of the Czech Republic team up with Poland's Tadeusz Kruszelnicki.

The semi-finals will take place on 8 July with the final on the following day.
