New BDO world champion Martin Adams has said that he is already eyeing the defence of his title in 2011.

Adams beat Dave Chisnall 7-5 in the Lakeside final on Sunday to recapture the crown he first won in 2007.

"Getting your name on the trophy is a goal in every darts player's life and now mine is there twice," the 53-year-old told BBC Sport.

"It would be nice to defend it and win it twice on the spin but when you've won you become a marked man."

Adams has now made a record-breaking 17 appearances at the Lakeside.

He added: "Of course, it will get harder because the players are getting better and better.

"That makes it harder and harder every year to maintain the momentum."

Adams was quick to play tribute to the unseeded Chisnall, who had previously come from behind to defeat both world number one Tony O'Shea and defending champion Ted Hankey on his way to the final.

"I thought he was fantastic," added Adams.

"We've seen him do this all week, where, when he gets a little roll on he's like a dog with a bone."

Adams led 2-0 and 4-2 only for Chisnall to level the match at 4-4 but, the number three seed, aided by both a 170 checkout and a 10-dart leg, was able to close the match out in the 12th set.

"He keeps coming and coming and coming and that's what he did tonight," said Adams. "Fortunately my game was enough to fend him off."
