Briton Mark Cavendish recorded his second successive stage win at the Tour of Missouri after outsprinting his rivals to take the 180.9km stage two.

The Team Columbia rider made his move at the final turn in Cape Girardeau to power to victory, again beating his Norwegian arch-rival Thor Hushovd.

It was the 24-year-old Manxman's 23rd stage win of the season, after he collected six at the Tour de France.

Cavendish maintained his overall lead in the seven-stage American event.

But he may struggle to hold it as Wednesday's third stage takes the riders up over 6,000 feet of climbing in the Ozark Mountains on a 183.9km route from Farmington to Rolla.
