Roger Hammond
Hammond was disappointed with his performance on the first day
Roger Hammond made up for his unhappy first day at the Tour of Britain, holding on for victory in the second stage after a tight sprint finish.

Hammond, off the overall pace after a poor first stage, benefited from a dramatic change in the weather.

"We had some luck with the rain because the headwind dropped - I always go faster when it's raining," he said.

There was an all-British podium with Robin Sharman and Mark Cavendish finishing second and third.
