New shinty trio for Ireland clash

Mackenzie hopes to build on last year's win in Ireland

Scotland have named three uncapped players for the Shinty/Hurling International against Ireland.

And Kingussie goal machine Ronald Ross and fellow key player Norman Campbell are available after missing last year's win for the Scots in Ireland.

Skye's Jamie Gannon and Newtonmore pair Paul MacArthur and David Chayne are the new caps for the 31 October match.

Manager Fraser Mackenzie said: "We have had to make some very tough decisions in selecting this year's squad."

The Irish are the visitors this season on a Saturday that also features an under-21 match and a women's shinty/camogie international at Bught Park in Inverness.

"We have spent a great deal of time looking into and selecting the type of players that are suited to the shinty/hurling game," said Mackenzie.

"This year, we have the return of key players such as Norman Campbell of Newtonmore and Ronald Ross of Kingussie that will add more experience to the team.

"We had a fantastic result in Ireland last year and we expect a tough game this time round, so we will have to make sure we are very well prepared."
