Stevens to leave the Giants
Rod Stevens' departure will be a blow for new Giants manager Rob Stewart
Stevens helped the Giants claim the play-off trophy on Sunday

Rod Stevens is the latest player to quit the Belfast Giants.

Stevens, who has been Belfast's leading goalscorer for the last three seasons, has said that he plans to find another club in Europe.

The Canadian ended his Giants career on a high note by helping the Belfast club claim the Play-Off title at the weekend.

Robby Sandrock has already announced that he will be leaving the Giants to link up with departing manager Dave Whistle at German club Iserlohn.

Stevens is not expected to join the German team but he has indicated a preference for staying in Europe.

The player has previously had spells with Italian and Russian clubs.

With players' salaries likely to be reduced because of a salary cap that is expected to be introduced in the new Elite League next season, further departures from Belfast can be expected.
