Team GB's sailors: Yngling girls
Britain's Yngling sailors: (top right - left-to-right: Pippa Wilson, Sarah Webb, Sarah Ayton)
Sarah Ayton, Sarah Webb and Pippa Wilson will compete in the Yngling keelboat class and go to Beijing as very strong contenders for gold.

The trio are two-time world champions and in Ayton and Webb, who won gold along with Shirley Robertson in Athens, they have the experience to put together a consistent regatta.

With Ayton (bottom right) moving from bow to helm since 2004, they won the test event in Qingdao last year and then fought off the challenge of Robertson, who took time off after Athens to start a family, and her new crew for the one GB Yngling slot at the Games.

"They've got a huge work ethic, great leadership from Sarah Ayton, massive application from Sarah Webb and Pippa Wilson and great commitment from their coach Paul Brotherton," said Team GB Olympic sailing manager Stephen Park.

"They don't take huge risks and they've got a consistency similar to Ben Ainslie.

"As a result, only once in his Olympic campaign have they been off the podium and they compete in seven or eight regattas a year, so they will be going in as favourites. Ask any of their competitors and they will tell you that these three are certain of some sort of medal."

Webb said: "We couldn't really go into the Olympics with a better pedigree and to us that's really important. We'd be devastated if we didn't win."

The Yngling regatta starts on 9 August with the medal race on 16 August.
